EGYPT: A TREASURE CHEST FOR CURIOUS TRAVELERS

There are places in this world so iconic that they deserve a prominent spot on every explorer’s Bucket List. As the cradle of civilization, Egypt offers a treasure trove of experiences to curious travelers tracing back more than 8000 years! Ancient Egyptians were architects, engineers, astronomers, surgeons, and artists; so many incredible artifacts have been recovered and the discoveries just keep surfacing from the sand. With a wonderful mixture of influences from the Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, you will enjoy an unmatched blend of cuisine, religion, and cultural traditions all on one trip!

CAIRO

Egypt’s bustling capital on the Nile River, the “city of a thousand minarets”, has existed here for more than 1000 years and offers a fascinating dichotomy between the East and the West, the modern and the ancient. High-rise hotels stand in stark contrast with the Pyramids of Giza and the medieval quarters of the city teeming with spice markets, bazaars, mosques, and tradespeople. Cairo is home to one of the world’s oldest institutions of higher learning (Al-Azhar University); the world’s largest and oldest monumental sculpture (Great Sphinx); important sites for Christians, Jews, and Muslims; plus world-class dining and street food. Enjoy a sunset cruise on a traditional felucca, a camel ride around the Giza plateau, private access to museum treasures, and so much more.

ASWAN

Five hundred miles south of Cairo, spend a few days and nights in this lovely small city, known as the“gateway to Africa”. Explore the narrow backstreets or relax poolside overlooking the hills and sparkling blue Nile. Take a short boat ride to the Philae Temple complex to wander through the Temple of Isis, excavated from the sands and painstakingly moved to high ground to preserve it from the floodwaters of the Aswan Dam. Hop a short flight to Abu Simbel to explore the gigantic rock-cut temples on the shores of Lake Nasser. The Great Temple is guarded by four colossal statues that served as a warning to intruders of the pharaoh’s power. Aswan is also the starting or ending point for overnight cruises on the Nile River.

NILE CRUISING

Exploring the many treasures along the Nile River on a multi-day cruise is one of the best ways to explore the region. The two new luxury yachts by Kazazian are the most glamorous and offer custom itineraries for private groups of up to 18 friends and family members. A candlelit island dinner; a beach club day to swim in the refreshing waters of the Nile; local musicians, bellydancers, and whirling dervishes; a staff of 24 including a massage therapist and 4 chefs; laundry, plunge pool, gym, and more. If you don’t have a full group but are interested in an exceptional experience, one of our favorite touring partners includes the yachts in a limited number of their small group tours. Space is scarce and advance planning is essential.

LUXOR

Located on the banks of the Nile in the ancient city of Thebes, Luxor is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Greeks, Romans, Coptics, and Muslims all traveled through here and left their mark, building churches and mosques near or on some of the ancient Egyptian temples. Widely considered the world’s greatest open-air museum, Luxor offers the most extraordinary ruins and artifacts including the temples of Karnak and Luxor; the Avenue of Sphinxes; the magnificent burial ground in the Valley of the Kings; and the Valley of the Queens. Do not miss taking to the skies for a private sunrise float above the desert and ancient temples!
